Toen schrijver Marja Vuijsje bezig was met haar boek Volgend jaar in Iran zag ze duidelijke overeenkomsten tussen de strijd tegen Apartheid in Zuid-Afrika en de strijd die nu plaatsvindt in Iran: apartheid (niet op basis van ras maar van gender), verzetsbewegingen, politieke gevangenen.
