Tsoku Maela text

Dull images and superficiality are nowhere to be found in Tsoku Maela’s work. Under the surface of strong visual aesthetics, intriguing stories are hidden, told in a poetic, sometimes crude, sometimes apparently abstract way. It all makes him understand often complex realities. One can change the past, he says.
Maela explores somewhat dreamy but very real matters such as depression, spiritual self-discovery and indigenous knowledge. They might even offer healing to battered, black communities.
