Seminar | Masks, Music and Minerals in Guinea

Events / By ZAM reporter

On 31 March the African Studies Centre in Leiden, the Netherlands, will host an Africa Today seminar on Guinea.

Asking whether recently re-elected President Condé is ‘breaking the mould’ of corruption and (armed) conflict in the West African region, the Centre has invited veteran correspondent Bram Posthumus to address this topic.

Posthumus has been reporting on Guinea since 1995 and has recently also participated in the West African ‘leg’ of the African Investigative Publishing Collective’s www.investigativecollective.com investigation of the ‘war on terror’ in the region, done in partnership with ZAM (see the investigative report ‘The Siren Call’.

The seminar is being held at the occasion of the upcoming release of Posthumus’ book “Guinea, Masks, Music and Minerals.” The book, published by C. Hurst & Co Publishers, can be pre-ordered through the ASC at a discount. The seminar is part of the ASC Leiden African Today seminar series
